The Jacksonville Beach Police Department participates in the Florida Department of Transportation's Safe Route to School (SRTS) program. Our goal is to provide routes and techniques that encourage children from Kindergarten through High School to get outside and safely walk or bike to school.
Walking or biking to school gives children a sense of freedom and responsibility, allows them to enjoy the fresh air, and provides opportunities to get to know their neighborhood while arriving at school alert, refreshed, and ready to start their day.
