Crossing Guards

Stop. Look - Left, Right, Left

The City of Jacksonville Beach is doing its part to keep even the youngest of our citizens safe as they travel to and from school. Our School Crossing Guards play an important role in teaching children how to safely cross the roadway by using effective uniform techniques children can easily remember. The program follows Florida state guidelines enacted in 1992 as a part of the "Ramon Turquest School Crossing Guard Act".

School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day

Each year, the first Friday in February is dedicated as School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. On this day the State of Florida recognizes School Crossing Guards and city programs that exemplify the professionalism of the program. If you would like to nominate your favorite School Crossing Guard, please visit the state website.
