About the Communications Center

The Communications Center serves the City of Jacksonville Beach by processing both emergency and non-emergency service calls for police. Service is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The center employs communications professionals, certified by the State of Florida in the 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Program

Approximately 70,500 calls for service are generated each year in Jacksonville Beach via 911 emergency phone calls, non-emergency phone calls, inter-agency radio communications, and officer self-initiated activity. Calls are entered into the computer-aided dispatch system and routed expeditiously to the dispatcher for radio broadcasting and assignment.

During multijurisdictional events, communications center personnel have the ability to coordinate resources and communications with other agencies via mutual aid radio frequencies. The center participates in the Florida and National Crime Information Centers to query wanted persons and obtain criminal history information on individuals, to enter missing persons and stolen items, and to send/receive Be-On-the-Look-Out bulletins (BOLOs) and advisories.
