  1. Mike Staffopoulos

    City Manager

    Biography

    City Manager Mike Staffopoulos started with the City of Jacksonville Beach on January 28, 2019. Mike brings almost 20 years of municipal government experience from the City of Largo, Florida, and 9 years of experience as a consulting engineer. In his tenure with Largo, he served as City Engineer, Assistant Public Works Director, Community Development Director, and the last 12 years as Assistant City Manager.

    Mike received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.

    Mike is an active member and Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Manager's Association. He is also an active member of the Florida City/County Manager's Association, serving on the committee for the Scholarship and Awards Committee. In addition, he serves on the Florida League of Cities Urban Administration Policy Committee.


  2. Karen Nelson

    Deputy City Manager

    Biography

    Karen began her career with the City of Jacksonville Beach in 2000 as the Accounting Supervisor.

    She became the Director of Human Resources in 2011, and then Chief Financial Officer in 2015. In April of 2018, Karen was selected to be Deputy City Manager.

    Karen received her B.A. in Accounting from the University of North Florida. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.

    Karen serves on the Finance Committee for the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) and is also an active member of the Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA) and Florida Government Finance Officers Association (FGFOA).
